Join our free creative writing workshops hosted by WestWords and WestLit Libraries. Learn the skills you need to craft a short story and poem in these workshops hosted by professional writers.  

These workshops are held as a part of the 2025 Living Stories Western Sydney Writing Prize. In its 5th year, Living Stories is open to residents of Western Sydney and Wingecarribee Shire, offering an opportunity at publication and cash prizes from a pool of over $12,000.

Angela

Angela May George

Angela May George’s novels beautifully characterise the experiences of modern multicultural Australia. Angela is the author of CBCA shortlisted picture book, OUT. A heartwarming tale of a family seeking asylum. She has won the Family Therapist’s Association award for children’s books and has been shortlisted for the Speech Therapist’s Association awards for her novel How I Didn’t Straighten My Hair. Angela is featured in an anthology of Australian Children’s poetry. You can find Angela’s books translated into Italian and they’re are also available in North America and New Zealand.

Angela will be leading the session for Adults and ages 16+.

C R Masters

C.R. Masters

C. R. Masters has lived and worked in South-Western Sydney her entire life. She began writing as a child but has recently returned to the fold after having three children. She was highly commended in her LGA for her entries to the 2022 and 2023 Westwords Living Stories competitions, writing about her time growing up in housing commission. She was also longlisted for the 2022 Hachette Australia Richell Prize for her first Science-Fiction manuscript. C.R. is working on completing an anthology of short stories that explore the perceptions and experiences of women in Australian society, and she is currently the writing group facilitator for Campbelltown Libraries.

C.R. Masters will be leading the session for Ages 10-15.
